Robin Benson Dold, M. Ed
AP® Pre-Calculus & Calculus Educator & College Board Consultant
Robin has been teaching or tutoring math for over 30 years. What began with peer tutoring in high school, then expanded to processing math trauma in myriad settings from the grocery store checkout line to all manner of social settings, she has formally taught high school math for over 14 years in Gainesville, Florida.
Working from the knowledge that most people are better at mathematical thinking than they realize, Robin focuses on first alleviating the fear and lack of confidence around math, then systematically building the skills and conceptual understanding necessary to be successful at mathematical tasks.
With curricular specialties in the AP® Calculus and Pre-Calculus courses, as well as the International Baccalaureate Approaches and Analysis Standard and Higher Level courses, Ms. Benson prepares students for college-level math courses for every path of post-secondary education.
As a teacher-leader, mentor, and AP® Consultant, Ms. Benson is knowledgeable about various pedagogical approaches, classroom practices, and particular lesson structures to serve every population.
Ms. Benson is also on a mission to end the use of the word ‘cancel’ in math classes (check out her Instagram @stopsayingcancelinmathclass).
When not nerding-out about mathematical pedagogy, Robin likes to read, exercise, play word games, and spend quality time with family and friends. You can find her listening to local live music, going to the beach, or buying seasonal produce at the farmers’ market.
